Pave Setting

A pave setting is a stone setting in which multiple small stones are set close together and very close to the surface of a piece of jewelry, making it look like the jewelry has been paved in gemstones. Pave settings are made up of lots of small gemstones, often diamonds, set closely together. As a glamorous alternative to typical multi-stone bridal sets, many couples choose pave setting engagement rings, which are universally brilliant rings with unique designs. These rings are so popular because the glittering tiny diamonds create the illusion of an unbroken diamond surface, which is unbelievably breathtaking. The gems are separated and held in place by little beads of the setting metal. The result is what looks like a continuous surface of diamonds or other gems. One classic use of the pave setting is in diamond jewelry, where multiple small diamonds can shine with brilliance in a pave setting. This type of setting is especially popular for rings and pendants.
The appearance of a pave setting is quite distinctive it looks almost like the jewelry has been rolled in gemstones.

A pave setting may only be applied to one surface, or it may wrap around in a three sided or round setting, a popular option for rings.
